After just 1 week the show was cancelled after an avalanche of complaints and child advocates who took to social media to voice their concerns.
On Friday Cosmopolitan Magazine launched its new Snapchat channel Cosmo After Dark.
It's an X-rated weekly edition that goes live every Friday at 6 p.m. and is exclusively dedicated to all things hot and horny (their words).
If your teen is using Snapchat you need to know that they can see this content by searching for it, or it may come up in their discovery section. There are no parental controls that you can use to avoid such channels and you've no way of knowing if they're looking at the content unless they subscribe to the channel (the savvy kids won't subscribe).
So what can you do??
The best course of action here is to make sure that their birthday is setup correctly in the app. Snapchat shouldn't be serving this content to minors and when I checked, I could find it on my phone but not on my childrens. Snapchats Terms of Service state that the app is for 13+.
How to edit a birthday in Snapchat:
Go to the profile screen and click on settings (cog icon top right-hand corner).
Select Birthday, found under My Account.
Update the birthday and click okay. Note you can only change your birthday a limited number of times.
Our advice is that you check your kids birthday settings to make sure they are correct and then check subscriptions to see what they have subscribed too.
